Waiheke has it’s own micro climate. Its location to the east of Auckland in the Hauraki Gulf means the island is protected from the prevailing colder wetter west and southwest winds, making it both drier and warmer than Auckland.
9 months agoTe Matuku / Australasian bittern. There are less than 1000 of these bits in NZ. They are an important indicator of wetland health because they are dependent on high quality food supplies. These amazing looking herons are able to be seen here on Te Matuku farm. #tematukuoysters . #waihekehorsetours
