Beach Ride $150 per person
The beginner or novice beach ride is a leisurely ride along the beach. Before you set off you will have instruction designed to introduce you to the fundamentals of horseback riding, including proper posture and balance, how to control the horse, and staying aware of potential hazards. Before embarking, it’s important to ensure that the rider and horse are both comfortable with each other.
The pace will be slow and easy, allowing riders to enjoy the scenery and the feel of the horse moving beneath them. Throughout the ride, Liz and her guides provide support and guidance to ensure riders feel confident and safe, they will also take sensational photos and videos for you.
Duration 45 minutes riding. We recommend that you factor in extra time for fitting helmets, footwear, and general preparation.
The Scenic & Beach Ride $195 per person
Picture yourself as an intermediate or advanced rider, embarking on our scenic horse ride above the stunning enclave of Woodside Bay. The trail takes you on a journey through picturesque farmland, offering breathtaking views across the Tamaki Strait to Ponui Island, Pakihi Island, and the regional parks on the mainland.
As you set out on your ride, you feel the exhilaration of being on horseback, the wind in your hair and the sun on your face. The trail leads you along the ridge, high above Woodside Bay, where you can take in the stunning views of the sparkling blue water and the lush greenery that wraps around the unique enclave.
As you continue along the trail, you’ll feel a sense of freedom and adventure as you explore this beautiful landscape on horseback.
As you reach the lookout point, you pause to take in the panoramic views of Awaawaroa Bay and Te Matuku Peninsula. The sight is simply breathtaking, with the turquoise waters of the bay contrasting against the vibrant green hills that surround it. Let us take plenty of photos and videos to capture the moment for you, and you feel a sense of awe and appreciation for the natural beauty of this place.
After soaking up the views, you continue your ride, taking in the fresh air and the sounds of nature around you. The trail eventually winds its way back down through the farmland, and you return feeling exhilarated and fulfilled.

If you are a couple of mixed riding abilities we can customise the ride so the confident rider can have a canter on the beach and the novice rider to watch the other rider from a safe position. Photos and videos provided.

The Advanced Rider 2-Hour Private Tour $325
The 2-hour private horse ride with Waiheke Horse Tours is a unique and memorable way to experience the beauty of Waiheke Island. Group sizes are limited to 3 or 4 riders if you have a larger number we can do 2 short rides (take turns)
Climate change and animal welfare. During summer it is too hot and humid for our horses to work in the heat all day every day, so we limit the number of tours we do and they get well-deserved time off. We like to book our rides in the morning before it gets too hot

What to Wear
Jeans or long pants with some stretch. Yoga pants can be slippery, shorts can cause rubs and marks from the saddle! Trainers are ok, boots, ankle (or long) with a 1-inch heel are the best. We have a few pairs on hand. Hiking boots are a bit chunky for riding. Sometimes the conditions are good for going in the water so don’t wear anything that you don’t want to get salt water on. We provide helmets and also take sensational photos and videos to help you remember the experience for years to come also you don’t have to worry about carrying your phone and dropping it.
