We welcome riders of all skill levels from first-time riders to advanced riders, we have trails that we can customise so that all riders get the most out of the experience. Waiheke Horse Tours guidelines for rider skill levels will help with selecting the best and safest option for you and your group. If you have mixed rider abilities we can adjust the ride so that everyone can have an enjoyable and safe ride.
Beginner Rider
A beginner rider is someone who has little or no experience with horse riding. They are usually unfamiliar with horses, riding equipment, and basic riding techniques. Beginner riders require more guidance and instruction to ensure their safety and to help them develop the skills necessary to ride a horse independently. They typically start with shorter rides and may need to ride a horse that is more gentle and easy to control.
Intermediate Rider
An intermediate rider is someone who has some experience with horse riding. They are familiar with the basic riding techniques, such as how to mount and dismount, control the horse at different paces and turning, and may have ridden a few different horses before. They have developed a more balanced seat and are more confident and comfortable on the horse, allowing them to start to work on more advanced riding skills and techniques.
Advanced Rider
An advanced rider is someone who has a lot of experience with horse riding and is very comfortable and confident around horses. They have developed excellent riding skills and can ride in a variety of disciplines such as dressage, jumping, or trail riding. Advanced riders can handle a variety of horses, including those that may be more spirited or require a higher level of skill to ride. They may also have competed in horse shows and may have received training from a professional coach or trainer.
